Areas where private homes dominate, as opposed to industrial and commercial areas, are defined as residential areas. They can be anything from mobile homes to single- or multi-family housing developments. Independent of which type of residential area it is, the wastewater needs to be taken, collected and transported in some way. Depending on if it is urban or rural areas, vacation homes or permanent residencies and other factors different solutions are possible. They range from individual private treatment plants to different types of collection systems transporting the wastewater to a larger treatment plant.
